Journal – 1/2026

Editorial brief:

another year has passed. From an aviation perspective, it was a year of many highlights, but also of some sad events, such as the accident involving the Polish F-16 display pilot in Radom, the crash of a Turkish C-130 and the recent accident involving one of the last airworthy Antonov An-22s. I would like to take this opportunity to offer my deepest condolences to all those affected.

On a more positive note, there were numerous events, some of which featured spectacular highlights. We attended most of them, and you can read about some of them in this issue. My personal favourites this year were the Antidotum Airshow 2025 in Leszno – our airshow of the year, which we reported on in the last issue – and the Oldtimer-Meeting 2025 at Hahnweide.

The Shuttleworth Displays are something special. This organisation not only puts on one show per year, but a whole series – each time with a different theme and aircraft. From this enormous number of highlights, we have selected the most interesting ones and created an article that, due to its diversity and size, spans two issues of our journal.

And of course, II wish all our readers a healthy New Year – stay safe & always check your Six!
